POL insurance: Property Owners
Liability - this is insurance against claims for injuries to
non residents or visitors to the property
Fire & Storm Damage Insurance:
This insures against fire and storm damage to common areas of the
property, for example the roof or common stairwell.
Comprehensive Building Insurance:
This level of insurance covers for all unforeseen events both to
the common areas of your building and to your private property or
flat (this does not include home contents)
Claims Handler: Professional who
handles insurance claims of any kind relating to you building. This
is your first point of contact with any insurance company.
Deed of Condition: This document
summarises which repairs are deemed to be "common repairs" and
therefore which type of insurance policy/policies are required to
provide adequate cover for all residents
Financial Services Authority:
(FSA) - Regulator of all providers of financial services within the
UK, including insurance policy providers.
